This presentation explores the rich but often overlooked contributions of African Americans connected to Marietta, Pennsylvania. Spanning past and present, it highlights influential figures who shaped local history and left lasting marks on the nation. Through stories of resilience, innovation, and leadership, the program reveals a deeper understanding of Marietta’s legacy and its broader impact on American history.
Michael Sweeney, local historian and member of the African American Historical Society of South Central PA, will present this 70-minute presentation at the Columbia Crossing River Trails Center.
