About the event

Join Bethel AME and the African American Historical Society of South Central Pennsylvania for a public reading of Frederick Douglass’s powerful 1852 speech, first delivered at Corinthian Hall in Rochester, New York. Community volunteers will read selected passages, honoring Douglass’s enduring call for truth, justice, and reflection.

Doors will open at 1 p.m. and the event will begin at 2.  We hope you are able to stay for the entire event, which will last about 90 minutes.

Volunteers Needed: Community members are invited to participate by reading a paragraph of the speech. Please see the attached flyer.
