Our Mission 

The mission of the African American Historical Society of South Central Pennsylvania is to collect, analyze, interpret, and preserve essential facts and materials related to the life of African Americans in historic and contemporary communities in South Central Pennsylvania and adjoining areas.

Community

Witness Stones Project 

The African American Historical Society of South Central Pennsylvania, along with Historic Rock Ford and the School District of Lancaster, unveiled the Lancaster City Witness Stones Project. This project places small brass memorials on brick verges to honor those who were enslaved in Lancaster County. Read speeches from J.P. McCaskey High School Students who researched the lives of four enslaved individuals.

The Society now operates independently as a 501(c)(3).

African American Historical Society of South Central Pennsylvania's monthly meetings are held the 3rd Sunday of every month at 3:00 pm at the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Grisom Education Center
